Get To G-Know Gneuss

Get to G-know Gneuß!?  What!?  Well, we were trying to think of a clever way to get you interested enough to get you here, and there were lots of ways we thought about doing it.  First, we thought “Gneuß is gneiss” might work.   Then we thought maybe “Get a gnu Gneuß sensor” would do the trick.  Then Mike Wheeler, our chief applications engineer, said, “just tell ‘em about the superior performance of these sensors, and what that performance is going to do for their bottom line!”  Well, we’ll get to that soon enough, but first, a quick German lesson.

Learn how to say, "Gneuß."
As we’ve travelled around the upper Midwest speaking with folks who are in the businesses of processing, re-processing, compounding, and extruding polymers we’ve come to realize that some of you already know Gneuß, and some of you don’t even know how to say it.  No problem.  Here’s a quick German lesson.  Let's start at the end.  That squiggly thing at the end of Gneuß; it’s not the letter “B”.  It’s the character
ess-tzet, which is German for “sz” and is, in modern times, most often represented by the letters “ss”, which is why Gneuß’ URL is www.gneuss.com.  Now for the middle.  In German, the letters “eu” are pronounced like the letters “oi” in the English words“voice” and “choice”.  Example:  “Wow, Gneuß is the superior choice in melt pressure sensor providers!”  (The letters “eu” in German are also pronounced like the Yiddish “Oy”, as in “Oy vey, that other manufacturer’s $1,000 melt pressure transmitter that I installed six months ago just died! I should have bought one from Gneuß instead!  Vey iz mir!)  OK, now the last part of the German lesson.  The "g" right before the "n" isn't silent; it's a quick "guh" right before the "nois" that makes up the rest of the name.  Well, now that you know how to say "Gneuß" that's all the German you need to start producing better plastic melts.  Let’s get on with getting to know Gneuss.

The Gneuß product range.
Some of you already know Gneuss as the manufacturer of the most advanced and reliable filtration equipment for use in polymer manufacturing processes.  If you’re not already familiar with Gneuss, take a moment to have a look at Gneuss’
filtration equipment website or their processing equipment website.  Back already?  Then you might have figured out that that circular thingy in their logo is a representation of the main component in their revolutionary (no pun intended) rotary filtration systems.  If you do know Gneuss, you know that you can’t find better filtration or processing products anywhere.  Whether you’re extruding, compounding, or processing regrind, Gneuss manufactures a filter for your application that will give you the best performance to total cost of ownership ratio obtainable.  Here at Busch Electronics, we don’t rep the Gneuss capital equipment, but we know our local reps well.  If you’re in the upper Midwest and you want to get in touch with the guys who do rep the equipment, just click here to send them an e-mail, and they’ll help you get to know Gneuss better.

Gneuß sensors for plastic melts.
So, they make filters and processing equipment, but what about the
melt pressure and melt temperature sensors?  Well, way back in the ‘80s when the engineers at Gneuss were developing their industry changing filtration equipment, they quickly came to the realization that none of the melt pressure sensors available came close to performing to their exacting standards.  That’s when they set out to design their own.  Over the past twenty-plus years, Gneuss has been carefully listening to customer feedback about their sensors, and they’ve been using that information to improve their performance.  Not only that, but they’ve been listening to all of your complaints about the competitors’ sensors as well, and have used that to make their sensors even better!  The result: you cannot purchase a better performing or longer lasting melt pressure sensor anywhere at any price.  Oh, the price!?  Well, that probably will surprise you…pleasantly.  Gneuss sensors are priced competitively against the brands you’re using now.  And, when you take into consideration Gneuss’ superior accuracy and the positive effect that will have on helping you control your operating costs, we think you’ll agree that there’s no justifiable reason for staying with the melt pressure sensors you’re using now.  And if all that isn’t enough, there’s the industry leading 3 year warranty and the Gneuss rebuild program.  But don’t just take it from us; here are just a few of the leading manufacturers of extruders who use Gneuss sensors as original components in their equipment:

Battenfeld       Berstorff       Bühler       Kraus Maffei        Kuhne       Oerlikon Neumag

Anyway, it’s not just melt pressure that Gneuß measures more accurately than anyone else; they also make a sensor for measuring the temperature of the melt stream that allows you to do so with unparalleled accuracy.  One of the biggest barriers to getting a truly accurate indication of melt stream temperature in the extrusion process is the influence of the barrel temperature on the actual measurement component, which has traditionally been a simple melt bolt.  Gneuß solved this problem by creating the CX series of melt temperature sensors with the thermally isolated tip.  Now you can get an accurate measurement of the melt stream temperature without the outside influence of the extruder's barrel temperature.

So, whether you are interested in measuring your melt pressure or melt temperature more accurately, Gneuß has the right product for you at a competitive price.  And, when you consider that all Gneuß products are the most robust in their categories and are backed by an industry leading 3 year warranty, we think you’ll agree that there’s just no good reason to keep using the sensors you’re using now.
