STANDARD CARTRIDGE HEATERS (Low to Medium Watt Density)

Hotwatt carries a large selection of stock cartridge heaters with the ability to manufacture build-to-order cartridge heater to fit your application. Contact Busch Electronics for guidance through your application. Custom wattages, voltages, and terminations are available.
Features:
- Localized heat to restricted work areas requiring close thermal control. Closely controlled work temperatures up to 1250°F are obtained by a combination of heater location and proper watt output.
- Basic designs are readily adaptable to a wide variety of special requirements, sizes, and ratings.
- Maximum surface temperatures up to 1250°F.
- Designations are etched on the sheath to preserve accurate shape.
- Heating elements arranged just beneath outside surface for maximum heat transfer, minimum core temperature and faster heating.
- Where specified, units can be supplied liquid tight.
- Long, service-free life.

SUPERWATT CARTRIDGE HEATERS (High Watt Density)
Features:
- Elements are designed for maximum watt density, temperature, heat transfer, and heater life.
- The Superwatt cartridge heater accelerates the transfer of heat from the r
esistance wire to the sheath. This is accomplished by relocating the wire so that it is closer to the sheath and swaging the outside diameter of the heater, thereby compressing the magnesium oxide filler to that it becomes an improved conductor of heat from the wire while maintaining its dielelectric properties.
- It is possible to manufacture elements of higher densities by improving the heat transfer rate because the differential between the wire temperature and the sheath temperature has been minimized.
- Hotwatt Superwatt Cartridge heaters have long, service-free lives.
- High watt density heaters require careful fit to ensure optimum performance and long life.
IMMERSION HEATERS
- Immersion heaters may be supplied with various junction boxes for additional t
erminal or lead protection.
- For corrosive environments, units can be supplied in other special alloys best suited to the operating conditions.
- The lead end of the unit may be sealed for extreme environmental conditions
- Units may be supplied for three phase or three heat operation.

AIR PROCESS HEATERS
Air process heaters will provide hot air and gas up to 1000°F (540°C) with infinite control by varying supplied voltage and air velocity. Units are fitted with a tubing for convenient power lead output, while larger diameters can be supplied with post term
inals on the sheath for direct electrical connections. Male or female NPT threaded fittings, hose adaptors, flanges, or custom fittings per your specifications, can be supplied for easier installation.
Multiple Heat
Whenever it is necessary to have a single unit incorporate two or more different wattages, air heaters from 5/8" and up with multiple circuits will be provided. Some uses of these units include: quick heat-up, standby circuits for maintenance of low temperatures, providing different wattages when there is a wide variation in thermal loads, and replacing more expensive variable powerstats for wattage control.

STRIP HEATERS (Finned Strip Heater)
- Seamless stainless steel sheath

- Post Terminals
- Ceramic element support
- Element wire is situated in close proximity to outside surface for maximum heat transfer and minimum internal temperature while preserving good dielectric qualities.
- Magnesium oxide packing
- Aluminum fins offering maximum radiating surface and providing for rapid heat transfer to the surrounding medium. Stainless steel fins are available for corrosive environments. Aluminum fins are standard.
High Temperature Strip Heaters (Ceramic Insulated)
- Hotwatt Stainless Steel Strip Heaters provide clean, dependable heat with sheath temperatures up to 1200F and watt densities up to 40 watts per square inch.
- Ceramic Insulated Strip Heaters are dimensionally stable in milled slots because of the seamless stainless steel sheath.
TUBULAR HEATERS (Straight and Formed)
- Hotwatt Tubular Heaters have built-in resistance to shock,
vibration, corrosion and temperature extremes.
- The heater is swaged, reducing the diameter of the metal sheath and compacting the insulation. This insures rapid heat transfer and holds the coil in position for forming.
- Many formations are available
- Pure magnesium oxide compressed to an optimum density for best heat transfer and electrical insulation at elevated temperatures
- Steel, stainless steel, copper, or Incoloy sheathed elements
- Long, service-free life
BAND HEATERS
Applications include: Cylinders, Dies, Drums, Holding Tanks, Injections and Blow Molding Machines, and Plastic Extruders.
- Hotwatt Standard Band Heaters are manufactured in one or two piece constructions with maximum inside diameters of 11 1/2" and 22 1/2" respectively. Three or more sections are employed when heaters of larger diameter are needed.
- Holes and cutouts are available. Maximum wattage may be reduced with the addition of holes and cutouts.
FOIL HEATERS
Applications Include: Battery Warmers, Cabinets, Defrost Applications, Heated Food Tables, Laboratory Equipment, Incubators, Ceiling Panels, and Wall Panels.
- Hotwatt Foil Heaters are self-contained one-piece assemblies.
- A resistant element is laminated between two layers of aluminum foil
- The heater is ideally suited for area and surface heating applications

CRANKCASE HEATERS
Hotwatt Crankcase Heaters are used to overcome the problem of migration and condensation of refrigerant in the crankcases of compressors used in air conditioning and heat pump systems. They are designed to keep the crankcase oil at a temperatur lighter than the coldest part of the system to prevent migration.
Crankcase Heaters are constructed of the highest quality corrosion resistance materials and sealed against moisture.
Hotwatt Heaters come in many standard sizes as well as indiviudally manufactured sizes and specifications. Contact Busch Electronics today by clicking HERE or calling (651) 288-2580 for guidance through your application.
