Glo-Quartz

Flange ImmersionScrew Plug Immersion . Quartz Immersion

Glo- Quartz is a custom manufacturer for built-to-order immersion heaters in a variety of sizes and wattage outputs. Glo-Quartz is able to match most applications due to their wide range of watt densities, heater sizes, and sheath materials.

Flange Immersion Heaters

Flange heaters consist of hairpin tubular elements welded or brazed into an ANSI pipe flange & are provided with wiring boxes for electrical connections.

Designed for use in tanks and pressurized vessels, flange heaters are commonly used for heating gases & liquids such as water, oil, heat transfer fluid, and corrosive solutions. Heaters available with special wattage and voltage as well as heated sheath length.

Applications by Sheath Material:

  • 304 & 316 Stainless Steel- lightweight oils, degreasing solutions, heat transfer oils.
  • Incoloy- forced air & gases, caustic solutions, degreasing solutions.
  • Titanium- seawater, brine, chromic acid.

Square Flange Heaters:
Square Flange Heaters present a simple, economical method of heating liquids in open tanks & low pressure vessels such as wash tanks, oil and hot water boilers. Ideal for tight constraint areas, these compact elements are easily installed by tightening a series of bolts.

Specifications:

  • Stainless Steel or Titanium Flange, 3" Square, 1/8" thick.
  • 304 Stainless Steel or Titanium Sheath, 50W/in.² (Single Element)
  • No terminal box, high-temp cutout, standard.
  • Typical application: Chemical Milling & Etching Equipment.

ScrewPlug Immersion Heaters

Screw plug immersion heaters are used by the process heat industry for a wide range of applications. This type features a broad selection of screw plug sizes, wattage, materials and junction box types. Screw plug heaters may be threaded directly into a sufficient tank wall or used with a companion coupling.

Applications by Sheath Material:

  • Copper- Hot Water Storage for washrooms, showers, part washing or rinsing, freeze protection of sprinkler systems and cooling towers.
  • 304 Stainless Steel- Tanks or processes with tar, asphalt, wax, heat transfer fluids, oil and other petroleum products, fuel oil, alcohol, caustic, and other "heavy" mediums.
  • 316 Stainless Steel- Detergent based cleaning solutions, liquid ammonia, vegetable oil, Deionized water, electroless nickel and other alkaline plating solutions.
  • Titanium- Seawater, brine, chromic acid, Deionized water.
  • Incoloy®- Air and many gases, Deionized water and other high temperature processes.
  • Teflon®- Hydrofluoric acid, ammonia bi-fluoride, Deionized water.

Additional Specifications:

  • Heaters available with special wattage and voltage
  • Excellent selection for vapor degreasing systems
  • Low watt density for oil heating
  • Easily installed with a wrench
  • Thermostat control available
  • Excellent choice for jacketed process tanks
  • Provides freeze protection in outdoor environments
  • UR Recognized/ CSA Certified up to 18 KW, 600 VAC
  • Applied for pipeline heating
  • Prompt delivery
  • 100% Utilization of energy
  • Minimum resistance to free flow and circulation to heated solutions
  • Electropolish available

Quartz Immersion Heaters
Available in single tube, three tube, and LQ sheath L-shaped heaters. Solution should be kept 2" above the heated length at all times. Units can be ordered in different combinations such as: Complete Heater, Heater Less Guard, or each piece individually. For ordering information, please contact Busch Electronics.

Sheath Materials Include:

  • 304 Stainless Steel
  • 316 Stainless Steel
  • Incoloy®
  • Titanium
  • Copper
  • Teflon®
  • Alumina
  • Quartz

Single Tube Heaters
Type GN heaters are available in standard watt density for mild solutions and type N heaters are available in low watt density for heat sensitive or heavy acid solutions. All type GN and N quartz heaters are supplied with a preset over-temperature switch encased in a teflon® tube that runs vertically along the outside of the quartz tube. This switch should be used with a temperature controller and a separate liquid level control system.

Maximum solution operation temperature is 200ºF. For higher operating temperatures, consult Busch Electronics for specially designed heaters.

Three Tube Heaters
Type 3GN and 3N consist of 3 quartz tubes and 3 heating elements mounted in one 3-hole polypropylene guard.

The surface temperature of electric immersion heaters can exceed 1400ºF (760ºC) when the heated section is exposed to air. This creates a severe fire hazard when used in many plastic tanks. Over-temperature sensors and/or separate liquid level controls must be used with all installations.

LQ Sheath L-Shaped Heaters
L-shaped quartz heater for shallow tanks. Complete heater consists of L-shaped quartz heater and polypropylene holder. Only single phase available. Supplied with preset over-temperature switch to be used with TC series temperature controls. Consult Busch Electronics for any modifications needed.
